Sometimes packing your travel luggage can be a major task in itself. You either end up over packing with the wrong stuff or forgetting to pack the most important things. I can confidently say it with my chest that I am a ‘seasoned flyer’ who knows a thing or two about packing a suitcase.

True say I love you like cooked food. I decided to put together a list of my top ten travel essentials just for you. So have a good read through my list and If you haven’t been away for a while, use it as a guide to help you pack. Even if you are a regular jet-setter, compare your top ten essentials with mine to see if we are on the same page boo.

Just so you know, everything that I have listed below you will find in my travel luggage come rain or shine.

  1. Portable Charger

This is number one on my list because I can not stand when my battery dies and its feel even worse on holiday. I would definitely recommend investing in a really good portable charger. I know most of us like bargains but spend the extra coins on a legit charger that is long lasting and reliable. No one wants their battery to die on them whilst out sightseeing. It has happened to me too many times before and it hurts me every single time lol.

For me, I have found that the constant use of multiple social media apps usually kills my battery off. I always end up needing back up battery juice whilst on the go. So believe me when I say you need to invest in a portable charger and don’t forget to ACTUALLY pack it in your case.

JWV Travel tip: To preserve your battery life, close unnecessary apps, reduce your screen brightness and change the battery setting to low battery mode (Apple gang), even when the battery is full.

2. Worldwide travel adapter

The amount of travel plugs that I have racked up over the years has qualified me to become a wholesale retailer. Before you set off on any trip, do some research on what type of plugs you will need for the places you plan to visit. Some hotels are usually fully equipped with universal plugs, but sometimes that is not always the case.

Grab yourself an adapter from a reliable retailer. These back street electricals good will your send devices to an early grave. Amazon is the ultimate plug for me when it comes to travel adapters. Click here to purchase the one that I currently have in my possession.

On my recent trip to Rome, theLovely_Tiff and I  forgot to pack travel adapters. So for the first two nights, we had to freestyle with our hair because we had no adapter for the straighteners.

3. Wet wipes

I know you are probably thinking wet wipes but hold fire because there is a method to my madness and you’ll thank me later. I always pack wet wipes when I travel for two reasons. Firstly, on the plane, your hands will get dirty quite quickly and it’s not always possible to get up to every second and use the toilet. From eating food to touching your phone, you will most definitely need to have some wet wipes on deck.

Secondly, when I am away from home and use other bathroom facilities abroad, 50% of the time I find that the toilet paper feels like sandpaper lol. True say I am not interested in getting paper cuts around my privates, I carry wet wipes for that extra added comfort when using the toilet. I highly suggest that you pack wet wipes in your case the next time you jet off as they really do come in handy. You can purchase them from just about anywhere for as little as £1 or less.

4. Travel pillow

Unless you are flying first class, please bring a travel pillow. The longest flight I have ever taken was 11 hours plus to Costa Rica (Aug 2017) and if I never had a travel pillow, my neck would have been a write-off. Take my advice and pack a travel pillow, especially on a long-haul flight. To me memory foam is the Bentley of travel pillows in general, it really gives you that extra added comfort and support needed whilst you take a nap on the plane. Check out the memory foam pillow that I purchased on Amazon it is the real deal and does the job oh so perfectly.

5. Sliders/flip flops

I take my sliders with me everytime I travel. To be honest, I really cant fly without them or my flight socks. Unfortunately for me, I have to ensure I wear both to prevent swelling and blood clots. I experience poor circulation in my legs when I fly, so I have no choice but to bring these items with me. On my way back home from New York in 2010, I was found passed out on the plane due to complications with swelling in my legs. I caught a fever and your girl was laid out.

Always pack flat footwear when travelling, especially during the flights to ensure that your feet are super comfortable. Whether they be Gucci, Adidas, Nike or Havaianas pack them in your carry on luggage just to be on the safe side.

JWV Travel tip: Try and move around during the flight, to keep the blood circulating in your legs. If you can avoid it do not sit down throughout the whole flight, get up and walk through the aisles.

6. Padlocks with combination codes

These babies are a life saver for your travel luggage. There is no hassle with padlock keys or anything like that because all you have to do is come up with a combination. It’s always a good idea to lock your valuables away when they are not in your sight.

Most hotels have safety box facilities in their rooms. I made the most of this in Dubai but still made sure I had my own padlock with me. If you are not staying in a hotel on your next trip, do yourself a favour and buy some padlocks. I am not saying that you will get robbed but who wants people gaining unauthorised access to their luggage? 🔐 Buy yourself some padlocks and remember to come up with an easy and memorable combination code that you won’t forget. I grabbed my padlocks (click here ) from my trusted connect, Amazon.

7. Travel bottle kit

I used to be one of those people who would overload my luggage with life-size toiletries. This was until customs stung me with fees in the Dominican Republic back in 2012 and ever since I have taken the necessary precautions.

Invest in some travel bottles to transfer all your liquids. It will help to keep your case super organised and you will find that you have lots more space to play around with. Amazon sells good quality travel bottle sets from £4.95 (click here) You will never have to worry about liquids leaking out into your case because these travel bottles are legit.

8. Waterproof phone case

This item is only essential depending on what countries you are going to visit and what you plan to get up to. I still do think a waterproof case is handy only because you know  I love to take my phone everywhere lol. Most of these new phones are waterproof, but I don’t take those kinds of chances. It is better to be safe than sorry, so grab yourself a  waterproof phone case and take it with you on your next trip. My case was a life saver in Costa Rica. I took that bad boy snorkelling alongside my wig and both of them came back intact.

I grabbed my case from Amazon for £6.99 (click here) and my Virgin curly wig was purchased from Hermain Hair (click here). I have a post on all things hair coming soon so watch this space boo.

9. iPad, tablet or laptop

My iPad is my baby (LuLu), she comes everywhere with me even on holiday. I love taking my iPad with me because it allows me to do lots of additional things like watch Netflix or catch up on some admin. Since it is much bigger than my mobile handset I can set it up anywhere and do whatever I need to do.

Heres a quick gem for you, the entertainment on the plane can sometimes be a bit dusty. So the next time you travel download some of your favourite tv shows or films and binge-watch it on the plane.

10. Travel Insurance

I don’t care how you feel about this or if you think it is a waste of money. Travel insurance is just as important as your passport. Even if you are taking a day trip to Paris, you must ensure that you book your travel insurance. It is one of the cheapest things to purchase when travelling but sadly it is ignorantly overlooked by most people. You are able to buy travel insurance in under 10mins online, it is a very simple process that takes no real time off your hands.

Travel insurance can cover a wide range of things from medical bills to delayed flights. So always make sure that you review what a policy has to offer properly before buying one. It is ALWAYS best to travel smart as you never know what can happen. In life always stay ready because the unexpected can occur.  I always run a quick search on Compare the market to find the best price on the market.

JWV Travel tip: set a reminder on your phone 5 days before your trip to book your travel insurance.

Did you know?  I buy myself a new Adidas two piece set every time I fly out? I know you are probably thinking to yourself this girl is so EXTRA (I am lol), but there is a good reason behind this one. In my family, we have a tradition where we buy a new outfit to wear to the airport whenever we fly out.  I am not sure when it started but me, my mum, dad and both my brothers all do it and I will most definitely be passing this on to my kids.

Is there something that you must do or purchase before you travel? Let your girl know because it can not just be my family and I who do this lol

I hope you have found my top ten travel essentials list useful.

I included some Amazon affiliate links to products that I actually use.  All of which come highly recommend by me because I know they actually work lol.

In my next #JennasWorldView travel post, I will talk about the countries that I have visited so far (no I haven’t just been to Rome lol) as well as some of my upcoming travel plans for 2018 & beyond.
